Cowboy is a senior Chihuahua who's become a beloved face in the senior Chihuahua community, and this portrait celebrates the journey that brought him here. He was surrendered to SEAACA and landed on the euthanasia list, until MuttScouts pulled him just days before Christmas 2025. Not long after, his foster family learned he was living with advanced prostate cancer, an enlarged heart, and later, a brain tumor. Cowboy represents so many seniors like him: dogs surrendered because of neglect, because their people couldn't afford vet care, or simply because they were seen as "too old" or "too boring" to keep. Shelters across the US are stretched thin, and owner surrenders make up a huge part of that. Dogs like Cowboy remind us that every one of them deserves comfort, medical care, and love, whatever their story looks like.
